Colombo. Sri Lanka has earned more than two billion US dollars from tourism in the first eight months of 2024, according to the latest data from the country’s central bank.
During that period, Sri Lanka earned two billion 170 million dollars. This is 66.1 percent more than the same period of 2023.
During the same period, there was an increase in tourist arrivals by 50.7 percent and in the first eight months of 2024, 1.36 million tourists came, according to the data of the Central Bank.
Tourist arrival in August 2024 was 164 thousand six hundred nine. This number has increased by about 20 percent compared to August 2023. Tourism is one of Sri Lanka’s top foreign revenue generators.
