Efforts to make ambassador appointments inclusive: Foreign Minister

Kathmandu. Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba has said that the government has tried to be as inclusive as possible when recommending the appointment of ambassadors.

In today’s meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, Minister Deuba said that while recommending the appointment of the ambassador, he tried to make it all inclusive, but some questions were raised, saying that the government will listen to and implement the suggestions and instructions of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.

Minister Deuba also said that since it was said that women were given priority this time, but it was not enough, the government will pay more attention to it in the future and also wanted to make them believe that the appointment of ambassadors will be inclusive.

Foreign Minister Deuba also said that even though the issue of proportional inclusion is clear in the constitution, it is difficult to implement it in some places, so it is necessary to make inclusivity while making regulations and guidelines.

In the discussion, the parliamentarians questioned the foreign minister about the fact that despite the recommendation of 17 ambassadors for different countries, the recommendations were not made proportionally inclusive, Madheshi, Dalit Muslims, and other communities were not represented, and the implementation of the constitution was not paid attention to.

The parliamentarians asked the government to pay attention to the proportional participation in the appointment of every agency of the state, to evaluate the diplomatic skills and competence when appointing ambassadors and to pay attention to issues such as adding time after evaluating the work and ability of the ambassador as the issue of changing the ambassador will affect diplomacy.

On July 14, the government recommended the names of ambassadors for 17 different countries. Dr. Government for India. Shankar Sharma, Professor Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli for China, Lokdarshan Regmi for United States, Chandrakumar Ghimire United Kingdom, Dr. Shivamaya Tumbahamfe of South Korea, Professor Dhanprasad Pandit of Israel, Ramakrishna Bhattarai of Sri Lanka and Rita Dhital have been recommended for appointment as Resident Nepali Ambassadors to Pakistan.

Similarly, the government recommended Naresh Vikram Dhakal from Saudi Arabia, Professor Dr. Kapilman Shrestha from South Africa, Sanil Nepal from Spain, Dr. Shail Rupakheti from Germany, Janga Bahadur Chauhan from the Russian Federation, Ramesh Chandra Poudel from Qatar, Sumnima Tuladhar from Denmark, Dr. Netraprasad Timilsina from Malaysia and Prakashmani Pokharel from Portugal.
