18 June, Biratnagar. 22 days after being relieved from office, former Chief Minister of Koshi Province Kedar Karki has handed over the key to the Chief Minister’s residence.
Karki, who was relieved of his post on 26 May, reached the office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers on Friday and handed over the keys to his residence.
Sources in the Chief Minister’s Office have said that former Chief Minister Karki handed over the keys to his residence and three vehicles through his private secretary Diwas Rajwanshi.
Karki, who became the Chief Minister on 27 October 2080 according to Article 168 of the Constitution, was in the minority on 26 Chait.
On 26 Baisakh, after failing to conduct a vote of confidence, the provincial chief appointed Hikmat Kumar Karki as the chief minister.
Karki, who was relieved of his post, filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding his continuation and annulment of the appointment of the new Chief Minister. The writ filed by him is pending.
On Friday, the staff of the secretariat of Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki reached the residence after the former Chief Minister handed over the talachabi. The secretariat said that the residence is in a state of disrepair.
‘The condition of the residence which has been closed for 22 days is a mess,’ said the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, ‘There is dirt everywhere, it takes 2-3 days to clean it.’
The office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers has informed that the key of the government residence in Kathmandu has been handed over to the security guard.
