Cooperatives will not sink if they follow the rules: Prime Minister

Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that if cooperatives are run according to the rules of cooperatives, cooperatives will not sink and such cooperatives will not cause problems to their members.

In today’s meeting of the Parliamentary Inquiry Special Committee regarding misuse of cooperative savings funds, Prime Minister Oli said that problems have arisen when people enter cooperatives with different intentions of taking non-cooperative and unfair benefits.

“Cooperators who stay within the rules are not drowned. There is a problem with those who do not live within the rules or do not know how to live. “If someone takes unfair advantage in any cooperative organization, the government will strictly regulate it,” said Prime Minister Oli.

He explained that since the constitution considers cooperatives as one of the pillars of the economy, the government is accordingly giving importance to it in the economic development of the country. “The concept of cooperatives started when the world economy was in trouble. The same concept has been applied in Nepal as well. There are important aspects of co-operatives that collect small capital and increase income and employment through activities in various sectors,” said Prime Minister Oli. The committee should instruct the government. The government will implement such suggestions.”

Prime Minister Oli also expects that the inquiry committee will investigate the study in an impartial manner and come to a conclusion and give clear suggestions as to what improvements can be made to solve the existing problems.

Mentioning that the government is looking for the people who have absconded after misappropriating the funds of various cooperatives, Prime Minister Oli expressed his belief that it will be easy to bring them back to Nepal through Interpol after the investigation is over.
