Celebrated by Mohammed ‘De’ Dhumdham, an appeal to maintain social harmony

left . The Muslim community is celebrating the 1499th birth anniversary of Hazrat Mohammad, the founder of Islam, with great fanfare.

Muslim communities in Nepal are celebrating Mohammad Day in a joyful manner. Even in Banke’s Nepalganj, the Muslim community is celebrating Mohammed Day with joy and excitement.

Maulana Mansoor Arfi, a Muslim religious guru and former vice president of the Madrasa Parishad, said that the Muslim community of Nepalgunj has a tradition of holding rallies, reciting the Quran in mosques, remembering the sermons of Prophet Muhammad, eating communal meals and exchanging greetings with each other on Mondays.

On the occasion of Mohammad Day, Nepalgunj market has been made sparkling. Maulana Arfs cautioned them not to engage in activities against religion and social harmony, saying that all religious followers can exercise their religious freedom within the scope of the constitution.

Ishtiaq Ahmed Shah, chairman of Narainapur rural municipality, appealed to the common Nepalese who have faith in different religions, castes and cultures to maintain the unity that has been demonstrated for centuries to maintain social harmony.

He said that it is everyone’s responsibility to discourage the wrong activities happening in the name of different religions, sects and castes, and he appealed not to provoke the spirit of secularism established by the Constitution of Nepal and the Nepali society living together in one place under any name.

Muhammad Harun Qadri, a central member of CPN-UML, said that violence, unrest and wrongdoing are prohibited by all religions, and on the occasion of Muhammad Day, a special festival of Islam, everyone should resolve for social unity. He said that no one should be discriminated against on any basis including religion, caste, rich, poor, different sex.

Ambika Kafle, Member of Lumbini State Assembly and Central Member of Janata Samajbadi Party, said that activities contrary to the recognition of the Constitution of Nepal are punishable.

President of Muslim Ittehad Sanghatan Banke Mohammad Safiq Beha urged everyone not to engage in activities that disturb the unity and harmony in the society. He said that Nepal is known as a role of peace due to the common Nepali people who follow different religions and cultures and have respect and harmony towards each other. On the occasion of Muhammad Day, Narainapur Rural Municipality has given a public holiday on Monday. Muslim leaders have demanded that the government should give a public holiday not only to Narainapur on the occasion of Mohammad Day.
