Kathmandu. Rishi Panchami, which is celebrated on the day of Bhadra Shukla Panchami, was celebrated today by Nepalese women by ritually worshiping Saptarishi along with Arundhati.
Women wake up early in the morning and go to nearby rivers, streams, lakes, ponds and ponds to brush their teeth with 365 dattivans and bathe with cow dung, mud and ashes. Since the water is clean enough to bathe in the estuary areas of the river such as Vagmati, Manohara, Rudramati, every year on the day of Rishipanchami, many women go to take a ritual bath along with Apamarga. Even today, women flocked to bathe in the capital’s river mouth.
After bathing, they worship Atri, Gautama, Bharadwaja, Jamadagni, Vasishtha, Kashyap and Vishwamitra along with Arundhati, who is said to worship Rishi Panchami. Today’s Panchami is called Rishi Panchami as it is the fifth day of worship of Saptarishi.
Prof. Dr. Devmani Bhattarai, a theologian, says that since there is a religious belief that worshiping Sapta Rishi along with Arundhati will get rid of sins, this festival should be considered as a scientific festival.
Today, after taking bath and worshiping, there is a ritual to eat uncultivated grains such as sama, kaguno, kandamool and karkala etc. Every year on the day of Rishi Panchami, there is a crowd of devout female devotees for worship at Risheshwar Temples across the country including Teku, Mulpani in Kathmandu. Along with Rishi Panchami, the four-day festival of Teej also ends today.
This year, the festival of Teej, which started last Thursday, ended today. On the first day, on the second day of Bhadra Shukla, the daughter, Cheli, was called to the house and fed. On the second day, on the 21st of August, on Bhadra Shukla Tritiya, Nirahar fast was observed and prayers were offered to Ummaheshwar for family well-being.
On the third day, on the 22nd of August i.e. on the day of Bhadra Shukla Chaturthi, the Haritalika fast was concluded and Lord Ganesha was worshipped. Teej has ended today after going to the river, river, lake, lake, pond and bathing in Apamarg and worshiping Saptarishi along with Arundhati. Rasas
