Kathmandu. The House of Representatives, Public Accounts Committee has formed a five-member sub-committee under the chairmanship of Chairman Rishikesh Pokharel to study and investigate the complaints received and submit a proposal with a decision. The members of the sub-committee are Rajendra Kumar KC, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, Amanlal Modi and Manish Jha.
Since the beginning of the current tenure of the committee, 66 complaints have been filed on various issues. Among the complaints, issues such as Teramox technology, Lumbini Development Fund, purchase and sale of Ncell shares and issuance of premium shares of insurance companies have already been discussed. Regarding other complaints, the committee said that while some of the replies were received from the relevant ministries and agencies, some of them were not.
Today’s meeting of the committee has decided to hold an interactive program with the participation of the chairman of the audit committee of the seven provinces, the auditor general, the finance ministry, and the representatives of the metropolitan city under the auspices of the committee, the ministry of federal affairs and general administration, in order to maintain uniformity in the views related to Beruju. Similarly, it has been requested from the government to rescue those affected by disasters such as floods, landslides and lightning in different parts of the country and provide them with proper accommodation and relief materials as soon as possible.
In the meeting, some members demanded that the complaints received in the committee should be investigated, the instructions should be implemented, the questions answered, the inter-legislative meeting, the work and responsibilities of the committee should be reviewed. Some suggested that with the change in the power equation in the country, it is necessary to change the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, which is part of the opposition, to conduct the meeting based on the agenda and make it result-oriented.
Stating that there is a need to justify and legalize the Beruzu expansion, they suggested that the committee should take a stand to bring those involved in the act to justice because of the increase in irregularities and corruption in the state agencies.
Emphasizing that the committee should assist the state to end the state of economic discipline and chaos, some members argued that not following the instructions given by the committee in terms of promoting good governance was an insult to the parliament. He emphasized that the suggestions and instructions given to the government should be followed to make it accountable and responsible to the people.
