Minister of Communications and Information Technology Prithvisubba Gurung informed the media that the first cabinet meeting of the newly formed government decided to provide relief to the families who died in natural disasters including the recent floods and landslides.
The Council of Ministers meeting has decided to provide relief to the families of those who disappeared due to the disaster and were not found even 10 days after the incident. Minister Gurung, who is also the spokesperson of the government, informed that such a decision has been made for the first time. “In the past, there was no provision for relief to the families of missing persons. The government has made a new arrangement this time”, he said.
The meeting also decided to provide the second and third installments of relief funds to the families affected by the Jajarkot earthquake. Similarly, the Cabinet meeting paid emotional tributes to all the known and unknown martyrs who achieved heroism in various movements for the establishment of democracy in Nepal. Minister Gurung said that he expressed his condolences to the families of the victims while paying tribute to the loss of life in the recent floods.
The meeting also decided to publicize the decision of the Council of Ministers after 24 hours by holding a press conference. Communication Minister Gurung said that the decision of the upcoming meeting will not be announced immediately, but if there is a decision of special importance, it can be announced immediately. “The decision of the Council of Ministers remains secret for 24 hours, even the Prime Minister and ministers cannot take it outside. Now the decision of the Council of Ministers will be announced through a press conference only after 24 hours from the next meeting”, he said.
The meeting also decided to make Nepal free of street children by the end of June 2082. In this changed context, it has been decided to return all the proposals that are in the process or not in the process in the Council of Ministers and various committees of the Council of Ministers to the respective ministries.
