Increase in number of National Identity Card Makers in Gulmi

Gulmi . In recent days, there has been an increase in the number of people making national identity cards at the district administration office, Gulmi. The government has adopted a policy of making national identity cards mandatory for the renewal of social security allowances from 1st of Shravan.

In the past few days, the number of applications for national identity cards has doubled in the district administration office Gulmi, which usually receives applications for national identity cards from 40 to 80 people. Elderly people have been queuing up to apply for the national identity card. Initially, the government is making the national identity card compulsory for the renewal of social security allowance in other 28 districts of the country. But Gulmi district will not be included in the first phase. Mun Giri, a resident of Musikot Municipality-1 Paudi, said that the rumor that the national identity card will be mandatory came to the administration office to make a national identity card in Gulmi as well.

Mayadevi Rokka, another resident of Gulmi Darbar Rural Municipality 4, said that she had heard on the radio that the government should make a national identity card for the renewal of social security allowance, otherwise she would not get the allowance and had to go to the district administration office to make it. As a result, the elderly are forced to stand in line for hours.

There is a problem when the service recipient goes to the administration office to make a national identity card at once. At present, the work of making national identity cards from 2 stations has been done in the administration office. It has a capacity of up to 80 people. But now, as the number has doubled, the service receivers are also facing problems, said Assistant Chief District Officer of Gulmi District Administration Office, Hari Prasad Gayre.

In Gulmi district, about 2 lakh people have registered their details for obtaining national identity card. Out of which 35,000 ID cards have been made. The National Identity Card is a multi-purpose certificate with biometric features that will be distributed to each person with a unique number and biometric information produced based on the biological and personal details of citizens included in the National Identity Management Information System. This identity card will be important to control crime along with the service facilities of citizens.
