32 May, Kathmandu. Ravi Lamichhane, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs of the Government of Nepal, has said that Singha Durbar is open to the general public.
He said that it is not necessary to have access to enter Singha Darbar. Home Minister Lamichhane said that the situation where people can enter only if their people are in the lion palace is now over.
Home Minister Lamichhane said at a press conference held on Friday to inform about his activities on the 100th day after taking over the ministry, ‘You don’t need to know anyone to enter Singh Darwar anymore. It is an attempt to put an end to the situation where you can get your work done only by getting a pass on the basis of acquaintances, and you can get inside only by calling your people.’
As informed in the press conference, the ministry has developed a new system for those interested in entering. Home Minister Lamichhane said that since the new system is being tested, the situation may be the same as before. Home Minister Lamichhan says that the new system of entry pass will not remove the old system immediately.
