They gathered in front of Lumbini Regional Hospital and chanted slogans such as ‘give work and food’, ‘arrange employment’, ‘take action against city police who commit excesses’, ‘respect human rights’ and others.
The women complain that even when they keep their goods in the market and sell them in the market, the city police throw away the goods and confiscate them.
Indra Nepali of Butwal 11 Majuwa said that even when they ran away from the road and went to take shelter in market houses and hotels, the city police assaulted them and took away their belongings.
The Nepalese said that when they raised their voice against the excesses of the city police, they would come to their homes and threaten them. Namrata Pariyar said that she had broken her leg while being chased by the city police and spent four lakhs on treatment, but the sub-metropolis did not care. She said that 5 other women like her fell and got injured when the city police chased them.
They say that they will be forced to go to Charanavaddha movement if they are not stopped. Shiv Rana, the spokesperson of Butwal sub-metropolitan city, said that it is natural for the city police to remove the street vendors while arranging the footpaths.
Rana said that if the city police had committed inhuman behavior and excesses on anyone, a decision would be taken after understanding it.
