31 May, Kathmandu. Jaysnu Maharjan of Bagmati province won 3 gold medals in U-15 school sports table tennis on Thursday.
Jayasnu won gold in all the three categories in which he competed, boys singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
Jaysnu defeated Koshi’s Sushant Mehta 8-11, 11-5, 11-2, 11-6 in the boys singles final at the Covered Hall in Pokhara Stadium on Thursday. Gautam Tamang of Koshi and Suvin Chhetri of Lumbini came third jointly.
Bagmati’s Narmada Khaitu became the champion in girls singles. In the title match, Narmada defeated Sulekha Thakur of Koshi in 11-9, 4-11, 11-5, 13-11 sets. Bagmati’s Surami Shakya and Arshana Maharjan came third jointly.
In table tennis, Bagmati has made a ‘clean sweep’ of gold. Bagmati managed to win all five golds in table tennis which included 5 events. Bagmati, which won 2 golds on the second and last day, won 3 golds on the first day.
The winner was awarded by State Sports Council, Gandaki Member-Secretary Sridhar Sharma and Table Tennis Chief Coach Rajendra Kapali.
In the two-day competition, 56 players from all the seven provinces participated, with equal numbers of 28-28 boys and girls.
