30 June, Kathmandu. It has been found that only one-third of the wards in Nepal have organized cremation grounds.
According to the community statistics released by the National Statistics Office on Wednesday under Census 2078, only 1,790 wards have organized cremation grounds. This is 26.5 percent of the total ward.
State-wise, Gandaki has the highest number of organized cremation grounds in 35.3 percent of the wards. The least organized cremation ground is in the Far West. In this province, 12.1 percent of the wards have this facility.
The number of wards that do not have any organized cremation ground is 73.5 percent. The largest number of wards in the province are in Madhesh. The data shows that there is no organized cremation ground in 933 wards.
