22 June, Kathmandu. CPN-Maoist Center MP Amanlal Modi, the leader of the government, has proposed not to give vehicles worth more than 50 lakhs to get government facilities.
He believes that public expenditure can be reduced by doing this and it will contribute positively to the economy.
During the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, while participating in the discussion on the budget for the next financial year, he said that the public expenditure of Nepal has become high due to the need to buy luxury cars to get government benefits.
He said that the federal government can decide how much to purchase vehicles for the president, prime minister, minister, and officials of the constitutional bodies, and the state government can take the decision for the state. He says that this will benefit the country.
Let’s arrange that civil servants, ministers, from the Prime Minister to the President cannot ride in vehicles worth more than 50 lakhs. This will cut a lot of expenses,’ Modi said.
Modi, who is also the Minister of Pre-Union Affairs and General Administration, also said that at the state level, the Chief Minister and Ministers of the state should decide the price of vehicles up to which they will ride. He said, ‘There is a situation that luxury cars should be given even for the officials of the constitutional bodies. It must be true.’
