Pokhara. In the welcome and meeting program held at Lekhnath Drinking Water Consumer Organization, Pokhara-30, Kaski on Saturday, Pradeep Yadav, Federal Water Minister of the Government of Nepal, said that it is the need of the moment to conserve drinking water resources and consume them.
Minister Yadav stressed on the protection of natural resources and said that the state should pay attention to the distribution of quality, healthy and accessible drinking water to the consumers. Minister Yadav said that while being aware of the fact that people’s lives are affected by destructive actions in the name of development, there should be cooperation between roads, water supply, electricity and irrigation while building development infrastructure.
During the discussion and meeting program, the secretary of the Ministry of Water Supply, Pramiladevi Shakya Bajracharya expressed her belief that the organization’s progress report is satisfactory and that consumers and members of the committee should continue their efforts to make the project a success.
In the program, Shankar Chandra K.C., head of federal drinking water project, said that the law should be amended to provide clean drinking water to the consumers.
The Vice President of Lekhnath Drinking Water Consumer Organization, Pushpa Kamal Dhungana, who has passed 27 years, has been providing clean drinking water to around 88,605 people in flat and hilly areas. He requested the general consumers to consume the water distributed by Lekhnath Water Consumer Organization as it meets the standards of the World Health Organization.
