Jumla . The Karnali highway, which was blocked due to landslides, has been opened. The Karnali highway, which was blocked for two days due to a landslide in the Gangne River in Calikot due to incessant rains, has resumed operations.
The landslide in Gagnekhola had washed away the road itself. The road was completely blocked after a vehicle got stuck in a landslide along the Gagane River in Esmod Molfa, Hulme. Chetan Kumar Mandal, Head of Road Division Jumla, said that the road was cleared by using the available resources and manpower in the midst of continuous rain.
There is still a risk of landslides in Gagnekhola located in Kalikot on the highway. He said, ‘It is not possible to say when a landslide will occur in Gagnekhola. The road has been completely eroded due to landslides in the river. It is important to travel with caution as the rain continues and there is a risk of landslides in other places.’
Hundreds of passengers were stranded as the road was blocked for two days. Freight and passenger vehicles were jammed.
