Bindu Gautam, a fruit merchant of Kohalpur, said that initially the price of jumli apples was between 200 and 220 rupees per kg, but now it is being sold at between 120 and 130 rupees.
Compared to the apples imported from India and China, Jumli apples have completely occupied the Nepalgunj market. Fruit trader Ghanshyam Giri also said that the demand for Jumli apples has increased and Indian apples have stopped appearing in the market. Giri says that although Chinese Fuji apples are being sold in small quantities, most of the customers are opting for Jumli apples.
Samir Khan of Nepalgunj has said that the taste of Jumli apple is much better than other apples. “Earlier I used to buy Jumli apples for 220 rupees, but now I get them for 100 rupees,” he said.
