Gift of egg to those who take pregnancy test in health institution

Kaski In order to increase the rate of health check-up of pregnant women, the Rupa rural municipality here has started a program of distributing one crate of chicken eggs every time to those who come for a check-up at the health institution.

Navraj Ojha, chairman of the rural municipality, said that the program was started to prevent malnutrition among women with the campaign of ‘Do pregnancy tests according to standards, protect the health of mothers and newborns’. He said, “Pregnant women should undergo eight health examinations. We have started the work of giving a crate of eggs to pregnant women who come for examination at the village health institution every time they come for examination. This will help to reduce maternal and child mortality and ensure nutrition.”

President Ojha said that the egg distribution campaign was started because women do not have to do any nutritional work and the regular test program according to the standards is also effective. “It is still seen that people hesitate to go to health institutions. We have introduced an egg gift program to make it a habit to go to health institutions regularly for pregnancy tests. Since all the pregnant women in the municipality do not take pregnancy tests as prescribed, we believe that the campaign will be helpful in increasing women’s attraction to this,” said Chairman Ojha.

According to the statistics of the rural municipality, 231 people give birth in a year. It is estimated that a budget of five lakh rupees will be spent annually for the program. Chief administrative officer Chiranjeevi Baral said that the rural municipality will arrange the necessary budget for this. He said, “This program is very important. According to the standards of the World Health Organization, we will make the testing program for pregnant women effective throughout the municipality. The municipality will send the necessary budget to all health institutions.

There are nine health institutions including one basic hospital, four health centers and four basic health centers in Rupa, which has nine wards. Ramchandra Ojha, head of the village health branch, said that all health institutions have the infrastructure to conduct normal deliveries. Rasas
