Kathmandu. Nepali Congress has honored the historical bronze medalist Palesha Govardhan in the Paris Paralympics.
Former Prime Minister and Party Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba honored bronze medalist Govardhan and team members with cash in a program organized by the Sports Department of Nepali Congress at the party office Sanepa.
Addressing the program, former Prime Minister and Party Chairman Deuba said that all Nepalis were happy with the medal of Nepal’s daughter Palesha and wished for a bright future.
President Deuba said that the bronze medal won in the Paralympics has also increased the respect in the international world, and said that Nepali athletes have been encouraged to do better in the future.
In the program, Nepali Congress leader and Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary informed that he is working for the improvement of the sports sector and said that he is ready to arrange employment for sportsmen in Nepal.
On behalf of the Nepali Congress, historical medalist Palesha received a cash prize of 5 lakh rupees, coach Kaviraj Negi Lama received a cash prize of 1 lakh 50 thousand rupees. Similarly, Bharat Singh Mahata, another player who participated in the tournament, received 50,000 in cash.
Palesha won the bronze medal in the K44 category of taekwondo at the Paris Paralympics by defeating the Serbian players in the women’s under 57 kg competition.
