Kathmandu. Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has said that coordination and international cooperation between law enforcement agencies is necessary to face the multifaceted challenges of international organized crime, cyber crime, and terrorism.
On the occasion of the centenary day of the establishment of Interpol held today at the Nepal Police Headquarters, the Home Minister said that international police cooperation is of special importance in dealing with criminal activities.
“In order to effectively control such criminal activities, it is necessary to exchange good practices, expertise and mutual information at the international level. Also, everyone should make a joint effort to make the society peaceful, safe and fearless”, he said.
In the program, Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi said that the role played by the Nepal Police in enforcing the law and maintaining peace and order is commendable. He opined that this program reflects the joint commitment for coordination and cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
“Nepal Police’s coordination and cooperation at the international level has been highly commendable. The Ministry of Home Affairs is active in strengthening the security agencies in the coming days to face challenges such as crime”, he further said.
Similarly, the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Seva Lamsal, said that joint efforts between law enforcement agencies are necessary to control activities such as organized crime, cyber crime, terrorism and strengthen law and order.
Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar said that international cooperation and coordination is necessary to bring those involved in criminal activities of any nature to justice.
He said that complex crimes and other security challenges can be effectively tackled by joint cooperation and sharing of necessary assistance between law enforcement agencies.
