Kaski. In Gandaki Province, the private firms registered in the former Household and Small Industries Office and who could not be renewed due to the lack of law due to the expiry of the renewal period, have opened the way for renewal and updating.
Dinesh Prasad Acharya, spokesman of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forestry and Environment, said that after the amendment of the Gandaki Province Private Firm Registration Act, the renewal of firms that could not be renewed after a period of one year or more, has started from June 26. In Gandaki, the renewal of firms whose renewal period was shortened by one year was stopped from October 8 last year. In the meantime, more than 700 firms applied for renewal at the Industry and Tourism Office in Kaski.
Maharaj Dhakal, Head of the Office of Industry and Tourism Office Kaski, said that the Private Firm Registration Amendment Regulations, 2081 provides that the firm can be renewed with a fine. The Private Firm Registration Act issued by the Gandaki government in 2078 gave a two-year time for renewal to firms that have expired for more than one year. Dhakal, the head of the office informed that after the two-year period given by the Act expired on August 8, 2080, the state government has been requested to provide the necessary legal arrangements to the state government due to the lack of legislation.
He said, “There were many firms that had expired for more than a year because the industrialists did not pay attention to renewal. We kept those who came for renewal, not the law. Now the Private Firm Registration Act has been amended and the renewal and renewal fees have been regulated. From now on, there is no stopping private firms from renewing.”
According to the latest revised regulations, from now on, when renewing a firm, the capital of which is up to Rs.20 lakh, and Rs.2,500 per year and Rs.5,500 per year will be charged to firms over Rs.5,500, according to the Office of Industry and Tourism.
“There is a provision in the law to charge triple the renewal fee after one year of the renewal fee. The fine will be charged after the renewal period given by us has been cut”, said Dhakal, the head of the office. After the government took a fine and arranged for renewal of the firm, there is a crowd of businessmen in the industry office.
Balram Acharya, Secretary General of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the problem of industrialists with renewal exemptions has been solved. He informed that all businessmen have been informed about the arrangements made by the government. According to the Office of Industry and Tourism, there are 21,000 industrial and 28,000 commercial firms registered in Kaski.
