New Delhi . The annual rate of inflation based on the All India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) was 3.36 percent in June compared to 2.61 percent in May, the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Monday.
“This positive rate of inflation in 2024 is mainly due to increase in prices of food items, production of food products, crude petroleum and natural gas, mineral oil, other products, etc.,” the ministry said in a statement.
The annual inflation rate based on the WPI food index has increased to 8.68 percent on an annual basis in June 2024. It was 7.40 percent in May.
Food prices rose by 8.68 percent annually in 2024, up from 7.40 percent seen in May. In the case of onion, it increased from 58.05 percent in May to 93.35 percent in June.
The DLUPI of fruits also increased from 5.81 percent in May to 10.14 percent in June, according to the monthly statistics released by the ministry. Rasas
