Literature takes the nation forward: Speaker

Kathmandu. Speaking about the importance of Nepali literature, Speaker Devraj Ghimire has expressed his belief that while advancing literature, it will advance the nation.

On the occasion of the 211th birth anniversary of the original poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, he said that in a country like Nepal where there are different ethnic groups and culture, language will maintain more global importance in a program organized by Nepal Pragya Foundation and Bhanu Foundation here today.

He says that Nepali literature should be given prestige by ‘digitalizing’ it in the current modern era. Speaker Ghimire respected the contribution made by the original poet Bhanubhakta and emphasized that the new generation should follow.

He said that besides bringing the contribution made by Bhanubhakta to the society, the development of the society should be taken forward from the field of literature, the language should be developed and the nation should be known globally through the language. “Regarding the unification of Nepal, as the then King Prithvi Narayan Shah established a historical significance by bringing the nation together geographically and creating a huge nation and advancing the Nepali people, there is a history of writing many poems of Veer Ras while advancing that movement”, he said.

On the same occasion, Chancellor of Pragya-Pratishthan Bhupal Rai said that Pragya-Pratishthan is working to make the Pratishthan a common place according to the basic mantra of ‘All languages, all knowledge, everyone’s wisdom’.

Dr. Navraj Lamsal, president of Bhanu Foundation, discussed the contribution of the original poet Bhanubhakta to the field of Nepali language and literature. On the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti, Pragya-Pratishthan and Bhanu Pratishthan jointly held a procession with Prabhatferi this morning.

Acharya, who was born on 29th June 1871 in Chundiramgha, Tanahun, Bhanu Municipality-4, died on 6th October 1925. Bhanubhakta Valmiki, who is known as a representative poet of the primary period of Nepali literature, is famous as a translator of Ramayana. Bhanubhakta has written works such as ‘Prashnottar’, Bhaktamala, Badhushiksha and others, and Motiram Bhatt collected his manuscripts and published them as a book, and he became known in Nepali literature.
