Upendra stopped the voting to avoid further damage

[ad_1]

32 June, Janakpurdham. Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), Nepal’s first national unity convention has ended with Upendra Yadav being elected unopposed as the president. Chairman Yadav has been given the responsibility of finalizing the rest of the office bearers and the central committee.

After 16 years of the establishment of the party, the agenda was to elect a 201-member central working committee with office bearers from the convention which was inaugurated with pomp on 28th June. Upendra was unopposed in the convention which proceeded according to the agenda. But there was more than one candidate for the remaining posts.

Therefore, the voting schedule was announced on Thursday. Candidates started asking for votes. But Upendra held a meeting of the current executive committee at 8 am on Thursday, when the vote was scheduled to take place. Along with Upendra, Rajkishore Yadav, Lalbabu Raut, Rakam Chemjong, Shivlal Thapa, Mrigendra Singh Yadav, Gobind Chaudhary, Manish Suman, Vijayakumar Yadav and others, that meeting lasted till 3 pm.

From this meeting, an unexpected decision was made to give Upendra the right to form the remaining officials and the central committee. Leader Ramashish Yadav, who is the chief whip of the state, says that the voting process has led to more problems in the management of leaders, so it was a unanimous decision to let the president choose office bearers.

When Upendra was given the responsibility of choosing the leader, the representatives became angry. The workers raised slogans saying that the democratic right of the representatives to choose the leader was taken away in the convention.

But after the rest of the officials and leaders were elected, Upendra postponed the process of the convention itself. ‘If the president’s sole decision was to select a new leadership, what was the need for all this pomp and drama?’ An unsatisfied leader expressed his anger, ‘Why such a wasteful expenditure? It would have happened before when Upendra Yadav took over.’

Fear of voting

A leader of Jaspa Nepal says that the main reason for ending the congress by depriving the workers of the right to choose their leader is the fear of the results of the voting. “Looking at the state of candidacy registration, it was seen that many of the people needed by the party will miss out,” says the leader.

According to him, 700 of the 1300 representatives in the convention are from the Yadav community. “It was easy to predict the results because Yadavs were in the majority in the representatives and Yadavs were candidates for most of the positions,” says the leader, “if voting was held at this time, there was a high possibility that the leaders of other communities would be sidelined. That’s why the chairman didn’t let the voting go.’

According to sources, Rajkishore Yadav disagreed with the decision to stop the nomination process and give responsibility to Chairman Upendra. He was adamant that he should go to the polls till the end. But after 9 executive members supported Upendra, Rajkishore withdrew.

According to the leaders, Upendra wanted to bring Chemjong as co-chairman. Because on 23 Baisakh, when the party split under the leadership of Ashok Rai, Chemjong supported Upendra.

Leaders say that Rajkishore has the confidence to win the election if he insists on voting. Rajkishore nominated for the post of co-chairman. Rakam Chemjong and Lalbabu Raut were also candidates for this post.

According to the leaders, Upendra wanted to bring Chemjong as co-chairman. Because on 23 Baisakh, when the party split under the leadership of Ashok Rai, Chemjong supported Upendra. Jabaki Chemjong became the leader of Jaspa, Nepal along with Ashok Rai.

But Upendra was of the opinion that Chemjong’s chances of winning were weak when the voting was held. Upendra is under pressure to include Lalbabu Raut along with Chemjong. Because Mohammad Istiaq Rai has recently left the party.

At such a time, it would not be easy for Upendra if Rajkishore won the co-chairmanship after losing Chemjong from the hill tribe community and Raut from the Muslim community. Even if Rajkishore won, Upendra could not be sure. Because if Rajkishore decided to leave the party at any time after becoming the co-chairman, Upendra would have to bear the loss.

In this way, the difficulty of the co-chairman position was the main factor in stopping the voting process. Apart from that, the management of the post was not easy. Because there were more than two candidates for every post.

But the leaders say that Upendra has decided to stop voting to avoid the possible consequences of becoming the general secretary after the co-chairmanship.

Upendra wanted to bring Ram Kumar Sharma and Deepak Karki in Jaspa Nepal, which has two general secretaries. It was Upendra’s obligation to give Karki, who was given the secretaryship by Ashok Rai when the party was split, the post of General Secretary of Jaspa, Nepal.

But it was not clear who would win as there were six candidates namely Bom Bahadur Darlami Magar, Ram Kumar Sharma, Vijay Kumar, Deepak Karki, Manish Kumar Suman and Ashok Kumar Yadav.

Apart from these two, there are also a large number of candidates for other positions. 23 candidates including 6 women were nominated for five vice presidents.

Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav, Harinarayan Yadav, Ang Dendi Sherpa, Vidyut Bajracharya, Arjun Thapa, Govind Chaudhary, Shivlal Thapa Magar, Saroj Kumar Yadav, Mohammad Khalid, Prakash Adhikari, Bacha Raut Ahir, Surendra Prasad Kurmi, Rambachan Ahir Yadav, Mandhwaj Balon, Amresh Narayan Jha. , Rajan KC and Sumankumar Chaudhary nominated for the post of Vice President. On the women’s side, Rekha Yadav, Leeladevi Sitaula, Shobha Devi, Suni Lama, Savita Yadav and Radha Thapa were aspirants for the post of vice president.

Dr. from the open side for three deputy secretary posts. Surendra Kumar Yadav, Rambabu Prasad Yadav, Ramkishore Prasad Yadav, Rajkumar Rai, Yogendra Rai Yadav, Shailendra Prasad Sah, Suresh Kumar Mandal, Dr. Jai Prakash Rai Yadav and Jairam Yadav were nominated. On the women’s side, Sitakumari Yadav, Vinita Kumari Yadav and Nirmala Yadav were nominated.

Renukumari Yadav, Balram Mahato and Sanjay Kumar Yadav have registered as treasurers. There are 34 nominations for the post of 7 secretaries.

The party chairman plans to select office bearers from the vice-chairman to the secretary, taking into account inclusiveness from top to bottom.

If not in a higher position, he intends to manage gradually below that’ says a leader close to Upendra, ‘but this would have been impossible and difficult in the election.’

Upendra stopped voting and chose the path of nomination to create a party that suits him. Because so far, contrary to Upendra’s wishes, no one has been able to get and take responsibility in Jaspa.

Jaspa spokesperson Manish Suman says that since the convention could not elect the leadership within the time, it has been entrusted to the president. The election date was only till the 30th. In that too, the election lasted until the 31st of Dhapedi. There were more than 300 candidates,’ he says, ‘as the election process was too complicated, the candidates entrusted the decision to the president.’

However, it is not easy for Upendra to select office bearers and central committee. Leaders say that since the number of aspirants is high and the party has recently suffered from the split, it will take at least one more month for Upendra to form the central committee.
