32 May, Kathmandu. A passenger bus coming from Banke’s Nepalgunj towards Kathmandu fell on the bank of Trishuli river near Fisling in Chitwan. At least 12 people were injured in the accident. Some passengers were seriously injured.
According to the area police office Muglin, the bus No. 1 B 4062 and the car No. 01-029 Ch 3720 of Bagmati Province in the opposite direction collided near Fisling, Ichchakamana Rural Municipality 3, Chitwan around 7:30 this morning.
Although the bus fell on the bank of Trishuli river, the car remained on the roadside. The condition of 2 people in the car is serious. The driver of the car, Samir Ojha, 35, of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality 5, who suffered serious head injuries, and Shekhar Mishra, 22, of Tokha Municipality 6, Kathmandu, who was riding in the same car, who suffered head injuries, are being treated at the old medical college, Bharatpur.
The bus driver, 35-year-old Vikas Malla of Kohalpur-12, Banke, is under police custody.
Some other passengers were also injured and they were sent to different hospitals, Inspector Nirla Bhandari of Muglin area police office informed.
At the accident site, the Armed Police Disaster Management team and the Muglin area police team are engaged in rescue operations.
As the accident car is on the side of the road and work is going on to pull the bus that fell on the Trishuli bank, there is a traffic jam at the accident site.
