32 May, Kathmandu. According to the Weather Forecasting Division of the Water and Meteorology Department, the extreme heat will continue in the Central and Western Terai areas till the 2nd of June.
The division issued a special bulletin on Thursday evening at 6 pm and pointed out the possibility of hot air and heat wave from June 32 to June 2. The department has also said to take necessary precautions to avoid its effects.
According to the department, monsoon is active in Koshi region. Madhesh and Bagmati provinces are also experiencing some coolness. But in Lumbini and the Terai area in the far west, the life has been affected by the extreme heat.
In those places, the maximum temperature has been measured at 40 degrees Celsius or more for the past few days.
This year, three days before the Sardar date (June 13), the monsoon system entered the Koshi region. Districts of Koshi region are cool due to occasional rains.
The Flood Forecasting Division has issued a notice that the water level will rise due to flooding in the rivers of Koshi region.
The division has issued an alert at 3.30 am this morning and has asked to be alert as the level of Tamor river has risen by 6 meters. “As the water level of the Tamor river is above the alert level (6 meters) at the Majhitar water measuring station and is rising, those who are in the coastal area of the Tamor river should be careful,” the notice said.
