How can Pakistan, England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka reach the Super 8? – Online Khabar

T20 World Cup: How can Pakistan, England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka reach Super 8?

31 May, Kathmandu. In the T-20 World Cup, some big teams had to accept unexpected results, some matches were canceled due to rain. This has made it very difficult for some of the top teams to make it to the Super 8.

In Group A, India is at the top with three consecutive wins, while Pakistan has lost 2 out of 3 matches. USA beat Pakistan and is in second place.

The situation is similar in other groups. What results do teams need to reach the Super 8? let’s see

What should America in Group A do to reach the Super 8 and Pakistan to save its reputation?

In the match on Wednesday night, with India beating America by 7 wickets with the last 10 balls remaining, net run rate has become irrelevant in this group.

America is ahead in points, but Pakistan has won in net run rate. America has 0.127 and Pakistan has 0.191.

Now, if Ireland can reach the Super Over and win, Pakistan will be ahead in net run rate. This means if Pakistan defeats Ireland and America loses to Ireland then Pakistan will reach Super 8.

If the U.S. is going to make it to the Super 8, Ireland will be the safest place to beat.

Otherwise, they should share points with Ireland or Pakistan should be able to add only one point at most in the last match. If this happens, the co-host America will reach the Super 8.

Of course, the weather also depends on who it supports. The biggest concern for Pakistan right now is the weather. If it rains, Pakistan may be eliminated from the group stage, while America may easily reach the Super 8.

If they win both the remaining matches, Ireland can also go to the previous stage from this group.

What does England need?

Like India from Group A, Australia is a team freed from Super 8 worries from Group B. But England’s situation is similar to that of Pakistan in Group A.

If they want to make it to the Super 8, England will need to beat Oman and Namibia in their last two matches, then Scotland will need to lose their final match against Australia on June 15. This desire is not easy.

Even if Australia wins, there is no certainty. Because England’s run rate is very low. Having lost one of their 2 matches and shared points in one, England is in second place from last with 1 point. The run rate (-1.80) is minus.

Scotland, which has scored 5 points, is also in a strong position in run rate (2.164). The main reason for that is to defeat Oman by 7 wickets before 41 balls.

If Scotland lost by 20 runs (say, chasing a target of 161 runs), then England should have won the Oman-Namibia match by an overall margin of 94 runs.

If Scotland lost the match in the Super Over, England should have won by a margin of 117 runs overall.

The weather should also cooperate for England. So that there is a game and the way to add points after winning is open. England will have to return home from the group stage if the match against one of Oman and Namibia is interrupted by water.

Is New Zealand out?

Mathematically, there is still a possibility of New Zealand reaching the Super 8. But for that, New Zealand has to do something in its favour. Especially if Afghanistan is lost, something can happen.

But the West Indies have reached the previous stage after winning three matches in a row, while Afghanistan are second in Group C with a good run rate (5.225) with 2 wins.

So now, to reach the New Zealand Super 8, Afghanistan must lose both the remaining matches. Even after Afghanistan lost to PNG and West Indies, New Zealand beat both Uganda and PNG by a wide margin, but the game will come down to net run rate.

If Afghanistan lose the remaining two matches by a total of more than 120 runs and New Zealand win by more than 187 runs in the two matches, they will be ahead in net run rate.

But if Afghanistan beat PNG or if the game is interrupted due to rain and the points are shared, New Zealand’s World Cup journey will be over.

Sri Lanka still has a chance?

If it rains in Florida, it will be very difficult for Sri Lanka to reach the Super 8. If the weather cooperates, there will be some possibility.

If the match between Bangladesh and the Netherlands is stopped due to rain, both teams will get 1/1 point in the match to be held on Thursday.

For that, South Africa must beat Nepal on Friday and Bangladesh on Sunday. And we have to give our best and beat the Netherlands on Sunday. In that case, even if Nepal beats the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal’s points will be equal 3-3 and the net run rate must be calculated.
