31 June, Pokhara. Under the first U-15 school sports, Lumbini and Bagmati have won the first place in the open team event of intelligence.
Lumbini region scored 14 points with 100% win in seven rounds. Bagmati was second with 11 points and Sudurpaschim was third with 9 points. The Lumbini team consisted of Kiran Bhandari, Toplal Adhikari, Sushant Aryal and Aarush Nag.
Bagmati bagged the first place with 100 percent victory for girls. Riya Shrestha’s inspiring performance was successful in Bagmati’s win.
Rhea, who finished fifth in the 9th National Women’s Championship held this month, scored 100 percent in this competition. Lumbini did not have to suffer a defeat in any other match except for losing 1-3 against Bagmati in the fourth round.
Apart from Riya, Bagmati’s team also included Srisha Duval, who has gained experience in the national championship. Other players included Angel Maharjan and Prakriti Rai. The team was trained by two-time national champion and FIDE trainer Keshav Shrestha.
