29 June, Butwal. A Chinese team including the Minister of National Religious Affairs Administration, Cheng Ruifeng, has come to Rupandehi to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha.
The team of the Chinese minister, who arrived in a charter plane along with 7 high-level employees of the ministry and the Chinese ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, was welcomed at Gautam Budh Airport by organizations including the Nepal China Friendship Society Lumbini.
On this occasion, Chinese Minister Cheng Ruifeng said that he came on a one-day visit to Lumbini to promote the Chinese temple and Buddhism in Lumbini, to promote tourism in Lumbini and to meet with the Nepalese in the Lumbini area.
He also said that he would take initiatives to increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting Lumbini. On this occasion, the President of Nepal China Friendship Society, Narayan Prasad Sapkota informed that the relationship between Nepal and China is strong even at the people’s level and said that they expect support from the government level to send Chinese Buddhists and other Chinese citizens to visit Lumbini to promote tourism in Lumbini.
Huang Zheng, head of China’s National Religious Affairs Bureau, also participated in the visiting team. The Chinese team was welcomed by Kalpana Harijan, Deputy Head of Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Gobind Gyawali, Chairman of Lumbini Hotel Association, Thakur Prasad Shrestha, Chairman of Siddharthanagar Industry and Commerce Association, Anil Kumar Gyawali, Chairman of Siddhartha Network, Yu Sun, Guru of Chinese Temple, etc.
Vice President of Lumbini Development Fund Lharkyal Lama said that the Chinese team is scheduled to return after visiting Lumbini this evening.
