30 June, Kathmandu. Rajan Bhurtel has been elected as the president of CPN UML Kavre. Bhurtel has won by defeating another candidate of the president, Chandra Lama, by a margin of 81 votes.
Bhurtel got 380 votes while Lama got 299 votes. Even though UML President KP Oli instructed to select the leadership unanimously, both of them fought by forming a panel.
Bhurtel panel’s vice president candidate Devasagar Lama, secretary Rajkumar Sapkota, deputy secretary Khulla Ratnakush Ranjith and women’s deputy secretary Suryamaya Danuwar won.
Despite the effort of consensus, the senior leaders of the district were open in favor of Lama and Bhurtel. MP Gokul Baskota, outgoing president Ashok Benju and others supported Bhurtel, while Resham Lama, Rukmani Baraili, Amit Lama and others were in favor of making Lama the district president.
