U15 school sports is a new history in Nepali sports: Member Secretary Ghising

30 June, Kathmandu. National Sports Council member secretary Tanklal Ghising has said that the U15 school sports competition being held in Gandaki province is a new history in Nepali sports.

On Wednesday, at the opening ceremony of the competition at the multi-purpose covered hall in Pokhara Stadium, Member Secretary Ghising said that the U15 school sports were started to develop sports from the school level and this will become the standard.

For the first time in history, a school-level competition is being organized for the under-15s. I would like to express my hearty congratulations to the players who have made their name in this first competition by performing excellently from their respective provinces and their names have already been written in history, the current secretary Ghising said, ‘We have been saying that we will do grassroots i.e. school level competitions for the development of sports for decades. Are we always just defining it? It is time to find the answer to the implementation itself. As a preparation and effort for this, the U15 National Games have started today.’

Member Secretary Ghising said that U15 school sports are the foundation of Nepali sports. The foundation of Nepali sports should be given an opportunity to new talents by promoting school sports effectively. So this game has its own importance. Its purpose is great.’

Member Secretary Ghising said that U15 school sports will set a new benchmark in Nepali sports. Let us start university sports from this time for the students who are studying in the university. President Running Shield is also being conducted. We have started U15 school sports as a series competition. We will do it in a pyramid style.’

Member Secretary Ghising said that it will be organized more widely in the future.

‘Future stars should be born from school. We have started U15 school sports for the first time to teach children about sports, member secretary Ghisingh said, ‘We will continue this in the future and organize it in a better way.’

The National Sports Council and the Provincial Sports Council jointly organized the U15 school sports competition for the first time.

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey announced the official opening of Pratyavagita at the multi-purpose covered hall in Pokhara Rangshal on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Pandey welcomed the players from all the seven provinces to Pokhara and wished them all for their best performance.

Similarly, former Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Khagraj Adhikari, Minister of Social Development and Health Vindukumar Thapa, Chief of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality Dhanraj Acharya, Member Secretary of Provincial Sports Council Gandaki Shridhar Sharma expressed their wishes for the success of the U15 tournament and expressed the belief that it will produce better players in the future.

Athletes from all seven provinces are participating in the U15 school competition, which is being jointly organized by the National Sports Council and the Provincial Sports Council, Gandaki.

In the first edition of the tournament, there will be competition in 6 sports namely Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Rugby and Chess. Both male and female students will compete in all 6 sports.

A total of 532 players are participating in the competition, 76-76 from each province. Similarly, 90 people from one province, 8 coaches and 6 managers from each province, have participated, according to the organizer.

In athletics, both boys and girls will compete in 100m, 200m, 400m, 8000m, shot put, long jump and 4 times 100m relay for a total of 14 gold medals.

Similarly, in badminton and table tennis, five events will be contested in men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. Badminton and table tennis will compete for the same 5 gold medals.

Similarly, in the group side, there will be a team event of male and female students in basketball and rugby for 2-2 gold medals. There will be competition in the team event in a similar manner.

All matches under the tournament will be held at Pokhara Stadium. Brain games are being conducted at the lakeside.

Badminton competitions are being held since Tuesday at the Badminton Covered Hall of Pokhara Rangshal.
