23 June, Kathmandu. Kanchanrup Rhinos and Chinnamasta Lions have won two matches completed on the sixth day under the sixth edition of the Rajviraj Mayor Cup Saptari Premier League held at Rajviraj in Saptari.
Kanchanrup defeated Rajviraj Rajdevi 11 by 6 wickets and Chinnamasta defeated Balan Bihul Super Kings by 37 runs.
Kanchanrup Rhinos met the target of 155 runs given by Rajviraj Rajdevi in the first match on Wednesday by losing 4 wickets with 3 overs remaining.
Kanchanrup’s opener Shubh Kansakar played an important role in the victory by scoring 93 runs. Declared off the match, Shubh hit 8 fours and 8 sixes in 53 balls. Rakesh Kamat scored 24 runs and Rahul Mandal scored 25 runs unbeaten. Rajdevi 11 bowler Vijay Yadav took 2 wickets and Shravan Yadav and Jitendra Yadav took 1 wicket each.
After winning the toss, Rajviraj Rajdevi 11 scored 154 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. For him, Shravan Yadav scored the highest 55 runs during which he hit 6 fours and 3 sixes in 30 balls. Himanshu Dutt scored 31, Mannu Das scored 15 and Rijan Dhakal scored 14.
Captain Rashid Khan and Chitra Bahadur Bista took 2 wickets each in Kanchanrup’s bowling. Rashid spent 22 runs in 4 overs and Chitra spent 19 runs in 4 overs. Dinesh Adhikari and Araniko Yadav took 1 wicket each.
Chasing the target of 140 runs given by Chinnamasta Lions in the second match, Balan Bihul lost all wickets for 102 runs in 17.1 overs.
Sahil Patel contributed the most 23 runs for Balan Bihul. Sahab Alam contributed 16 unbeaten runs, Tul Bahadur Thapa contributed 15 runs and Babbu Gothiya contributed 14 runs.
Firdos Ansari took the maximum 3 wickets in Chinnamasta’s bowling. Ansari, who was also declared the player of the match, spent 28 runs in 3 overs. Mohammad Sohail and Gunand Ray took 2 wickets each and Vishal Patel and Revati Ray took 1 wicket each.
Earlier, Chinnamasta Lions who won the toss and batted scored 139 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Mayan Yadav contributed the most for Chinnamasta with 32 runs, while Vishal Patel scored 29 unbeaten, Firdos Ansari and Vikas Das scored 22 runs. On the bowling side, Balan Bihul’s Shahab Alam and Babbu Gothiya took 2 wickets each. Bibek Yadav, Nitesh Yadav and Gomanand Amatya took 1 wicket each.
Chinnamasta is at the top of the table with 7 points after 3 wins and 1 draw in 4 matches. Chinnamasta has secured a place in the playoffs with one game left.
Similarly, Kanchanrup Rhinos, who are in the second place with 6 points after 3 wins and 1 loss in 4 games, have also secured a place in the playoffs. Losing all four games, Balan Bihul’s chances of reaching the playoffs are over with one game to go. Come on
Rajviraj Rajdevi is fifth in the points table with 2 points in 4 matches after the loss of Jako. Tilathi Koiladi is in fourth place with 3 points from 3 matches. Tirhut Tigers are third with 4 points from 3 matches.
Two matches will be played on Thursday, the seventh day of the tournament. In the 9:30 am match Sunrise XI will compete against Tilathi Koiladi and Kanchanrup Rhinos and in the 1:30 pm match between Chinnamasta Lions and Tirhut Tigers.
6 teams are participating in the competition which will be organized till May 28th. Under the round robin league, after all the teams have played 1/1 match against each other, the top 4 teams of the group will compete in the play-offs.
National cricketers such as Vinod Bhandari, Bhim Sarki, Vivek Yadav, Dilip Nath, Rijan Dhakal, Shahab Alam, Basir Ahmed, Rashid Khan are representing various teams in the tournament organized by Saptari Cricket Association.
