23 June, Biratnagar. In order to spend the allocated budget for the current financial year, the Provincial Sports Development Board has prepared to hold 12 competitions. While holding a press conference on Wednesday, the board said that 12 different competitions will be held within June 15.
Member Secretary of the State Sports Development Board Krishna Basnet (Pashuram) said that the sports related program to be implemented through the State Sports Development Board in the current fiscal year 2080-081 will cover all 14 districts of the state.
According to him, the state-level men’s football tournament will be held in Tehrathum from June 3 to 7. The Kabaddi competition will be held in Morang from June 7 to 10, women’s football in Khotang from June 8 to 13, physical fitness in Jhapa from June 10 to 12 and weightlifting in Biratnagar from June 13 to 15.
The Chief Minister’s Cup national volleyball tournament will be held in Morang, state level swimming competition in Sunsari and Morang, women’s ‘self defense’ (self defense) and yoga training will be held in 3 schools in Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari.
Cricket and swimming competitions will be held in Biratnagar and basketball in Dharan among the para sports played by the differently abled (handicapped). A budget of 16 million rupees has been allocated for organizing sports competitions in Koshi.
Basnet said that the preparations for the sports competitions which have been stopped for some time in Koshi province can be completed by the second week of June. He said that to prevent the budget from being ‘frozen’, the competition is going to be organized on a ‘fast track’ basis.
