22 June, Kathmandu. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been elected as a member of the Lok Sabha.
Modi, who became a candidate in the Baranasi region, defeated Congress state president Ajay Rai by a margin of 152,000 votes. He was elected for the third time from this region.
But his vote share has decreased. In 2019, Modi won by a margin of 4 lakh 79 thousand 505 votes.
Modi’s party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has failed to get a majority.
BJP is ahead in 243 seats in the ongoing vote count. The NDA alliance is ahead in 293 seats.
