18 June, Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Outer Ring Road, which the government promotes every year with high importance, has not received any budget for the next financial year.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the government has placed this project in ‘P-2’ as a matter of priority. However, the construction and resource modality could not be decided, so this project is at a standstill.
However, the government has not been able to cancel this project by declaring it a sick project. Although it is estimated that 8 lakh rupees will be spent on this project in the current financial year 2080/81, the government has not budgeted for the next year.
It has been more than two years since the concept of outer ring road scheme was started. So far, this project is limited to paper only.
According to the 61st annual report of the Office of the Auditor General, the concept of outer ring road came in 2058. Since then, this project has been limited to feasibility studies for 22 years.
How much has been spent so far?
Out of the outer ring road development project under the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority, 148.4 million 57 thousand rupees have been spent on this project so far.
Construction of Outer Ring Road This concept was brought to facilitate people’s life by constructing a 72 km outer ring road to develop a planned new organized city in three districts of Kathmandu Valley on the basis of systematic land consolidation.
