Paudel’s question to the government: Will those involved in Giribandhu be punished or not?

18 June, Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Pradeep Paudel has claimed that there is political corruption in Giribandhu Tea Estate and has demanded the government’s opinion on taking action against those involved in it.

While registering a question in the House of Representatives, MP Paudel demanded such an answer from the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

MP Paudel’s question is, ‘The fact of political corruption in Giribandhu Tea-Estate has been determined by the Supreme Court’s decision. What is the government’s plan to take action against the then Prime Minister and members of the Council of Ministers involved in this?’

The Supreme Court ruled that the land of Giribandhu Tea Estate cannot be leased in excess of the limit in the case of political corruption.

On this basis, MP Paudel demanded the government’s plan to take action against the Prime Minister and members of the Council of Ministers who commit political corruption by amending the law as per the order of the Supreme Court.

Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Balram Adhikari will have to answer this question in the meeting of the House of Representatives. If that is not possible, a copy of the answer will be tabled in the House of Representatives.

Apart from this, MP Paudel said that ‘the government has introduced a system that can be sold once with the approval of the ministry subject to the conditions set by the ministry of land within the limits of some Nepal Act Amendment Ordinance’. What is the purpose of this? asked that.

How many companies or projects are above the limit? Isn’t the purpose of this provision to feed certain business houses?’ Congress MP Paudel has a question for Lands Minister Adhikari.

The government brought an ordinance on 16 Baisakh 2081 to amend the Land Act, (2) 21.

Four questions to the Prime Minister and Home Minister

Congress MP Paudel asked two questions each to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane.

The first question to the Prime Minister is – What is the reason for the government to enter into a large purchase agreement with companies worth one pound or one dollar? Does the government have a policy plan to punish those who do not check the credibility of the company before the purchase agreement?

Another question – how sensitive is the government to the issue of being appointed as a constitutional body or ambassador after the inauguration and retirement and becoming a consultant to a foreign agency that may lead to conflict of interest, does the government think that there should be a ‘cooling period’ in this regard? If so, what kind of policies and laws is the government thinking of creating?

Similarly, Congress MP Paudel asked Home Minister Lamichhane the first question – What kind of investigation is being conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the two citizenships taken against the law of the Secretary General of the Parliament Secretariat?

The second question is also related to Home Minister Lamichhane. Paudel asked – What is the government’s opinion regarding the decision made by the Attorney General regarding the passport of Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane? Also, what is the constitutional and legal provision for giving a clean chit by the same office in the last cooperative case? If not, why not prosecute the Attorney General for acting against official conduct?
