18 June, Kathmandu. Health insurance program is going to be implemented in 10 private medical colleges.
The Health Insurance Board has given permission to 10 medical colleges and 2 eye hospitals to operate the insurance program with effect from the next financial year.
Chairman of the Board Dr. According to Gunaraj Lohani, there are four medical colleges in Kathmandu Valley and six outside.
The hospitals listed in the insurance program are Kathmandu Medical College Teaching Hospital (KMC Hospital) Sinamangal Kathmandu, Manmohan Medical College Teaching Hospital, Sitapaila, Nepal Medical College Teaching Hospital, Jorpati and Kisht Medical College Teaching Hospital Gwarko.
Similarly, among the medical colleges outside the valley that have been listed for the health insurance program are B&C Medical College Teaching Hospital Jhapa, Nobel Medical College Teaching Hospital Biratnagar, Virat Medical College Teaching Hospital Biratnagar, Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital Bharatpur, Devdah Medical College Khairni Rupandehi and Nepalgunj Medical College. are
Health insurance will also be applicable at Virtajyoti Eyecare Pvt Ltd, Jhapa and Drishti Eye Hospital, Pokhara.
“The board had already made a theoretical decision, but now that the documents have arrived, we have made an agreement so that we can provide services from July 1,” said Dr. Lohani said.
Recently, the insurance board had stopped the program after receiving complaints about the increasing number of conditions in private hospitals and medical colleges. A strategy was taken to cover private hospitals in the vicinity only in cases where the government hospital could not afford insurance services.
According to the board, insurance program agreements have been signed with 472 service-providing health institutions so far.
