May 17, Kathmandu. The families of workers in the informal sector affiliated to the Social Security Fund and those who have gone abroad for employment will now also get medical facilities.
Earlier this facility was provided only to the husband or wife who joined. From now on, the fund includes the children of those who joined.
Labour, Employment and Social Security Minister Dol Prasad Aryal made a formal announcement of this facility extended by the fund on the occasion of Shramadhan Rojgar Mela held in Biratnagar on Thursday.
The fund has revised the procedure to provide medication facilities to the families of workers who have gone to informal and foreign employment to be implemented from today. According to which, husbands, wives and children of workers under 18 years of age can receive medical treatment up to 1 lakh per year.
According to Uttamraj Nepal, director of the fund, the time period for which treatment facilities can be availed has also been reduced from 9 months to 3 months.
