May 17, Kathmandu. Nepali Congress General Minister Gagan Thapa has said that the parliamentary committee formed to investigate the co-operative fraud case will investigate Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane.
Publishing a video on social media on Thursday, he said that Home Minister Lamichhane will come under the purview of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee’s Terms of Reference (TOR) under the fourth point.
Thapa said that after learning of the preparations of the ruling parties to end the parliament session without forming a parliamentary inquiry committee, they are ready to issue a mandate without naming the home minister. However, he said that GB Rai, then president of Gorkha Media Network, and another director, Ravi Lamichhane, will be investigated regarding the fact that the current mandate brought funds from various cooperatives.
‘Whose Gorkha media belongs to GB Rai and Honorable Ravi Lamichhane, who had to investigate after asking to investigate the Gorkha media? GB Rai and Honorable Ravi Lamichhane should be called and investigated’, he said.
General Minister Thapa said that the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee should work without cheating on the mandate. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda said in the discussion about finalizing the mandate, ‘After mentioning the name of the Gorkha media networker, the Prime Minister, the Home Minister who is involved in bringing money there cannot be hypocritical in the language of calling for investigation’, he said.
Referring to UML President KP Oli, Thapa said that it was a conspiracy to run the parliament for a few days and then adjourn the parliament.
“Whatever we get, even if the leader of a different party says something, the Congress is demanding to form a committee by naming it. The parliament will run like this for a few days and then the parliament will be closed. After about 6 months, the parliament will be convened. We will not form a parliamentary committee. We discussed within the Nepali Congress. “There is a trap, if we fall into the trap, we thought that this should be the minimum and point number 4 was prepared,” he said.
Thapa said that Prime Minister Prachanda had done a thorough job while answering the question after they raised questions about the Home Minister and then came to the conclusion that there should be a parliamentary inquiry.
