May 17, Kathmandu. The family of Shukra Bahadur Tamang, who lost his life in the Russian army, has performed kazkiriya.
The family members of Tamang, who died while serving in the Russian army, completed kazkiriya at Swayambhu Monastery in Kathmandu on Thursday according to Buddhist rituals. The family has not found the body of the deceased Tamang.
The news of the death of Tamang, who joined the Russian army on October 22, 2080, came on January 10. The government has also confirmed his death.
So far, the number of Nepalis who have died in Russia-Ukraine war has reached 40. The names of 22 of them have been confirmed by the government and 18 have been confirmed by family sources. These families have also completed the last rites.
According to the ‘Life Campaign of Nepali Joined in the Russian Army’, which connects the families and relatives of those who went to the Russian army, around 300 are still without contact.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 283 families, including 99 out of contact and 142 injured and rescued families and relatives of those recruited into the Russian army, have submitted applications.
6 Nepalis who participated in the Russia-Ukraine war have been taken hostage by Ukraine, while 65 people who have joined the Russian army have returned to their country so far.
