Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has ruled that Gandaki Chief Minister Khagraj Adhikari has been relieved of his post. Now Nepali Congress, the largest party in the Gandaki State Assembly, has given a mandate to appoint Surendraraj Pandey, the leader of the Parliamentary Party, as the Chief Minister.
In the 60-member Gandaki Provincial Assembly, Speaker Krishna Prasad Dhital announced that Chief Minister Khagraj had received a vote of confidence with the support of 30 people. While according to the constitution, 31 state assembly members had to support it.
Surendraraj Pandey, the leader of the Congress parliamentary party, went to the Supreme Court after Khagraj was given a vote of confidence by using the Speaker.
The bench of Supreme Court Justices Kumar Regmi and Sunil Pokharel released Khagraj and issued a mandate to appoint Surendraraj Pandey as the Chief Minister as the largest party.
