Dhulikhel The Dhulikhel-Khawa section under the Araniko highway has been closed for two days. Traffic is closed today and tomorrow afternoon in the section due to ongoing road upgrading.
The Road Division Office, Bhaktapur issued a notice on Friday and asked the passengers and vehicles traveling through that section to use alternative roads. Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office Kathmandu, Road Division Bhaktapur has issued a public notice saying that Arani Highway (Dhulikhel-Jirokilo-Khawa section) will be closed for two days from today at noon.
In order to further repair and expand the Dhulikhel Jirokilo-Khawa section of the highway, the district coordination committee, concerned agencies and local people decided to close the section for two days on 7th June, and the road division office Bhaktapur’s information officer and engineer Suman Basnet said that it will be closed today and tomorrow. According to the decision of the meeting, today from 11 am to 4 pm and tomorrow from 11 am to 3 pm, all types of traffic will be completely closed except for fire engines, ambulances, hearses and vehicles of security agencies.
The road division office has requested to assist the construction work by using alternative routes throughout the closure period. Information officer Basnet says that during that time, vehicles going to Panchkhaal via Kathmandu-Banepa are asked to use the Panchkhaal road via Horizon Hotel-Visitor Hotel-Raviop. According to him, Panchkhaal road has been arranged as an alternative route for small vehicles via Banepa Chardobato-Raviop.
Information officer Basnet said that BP highway-Tinpiple-Panchkhaal road for small vehicles has been requested to be used as an alternative route and for all vehicles going to Kathmandu via Dolalghat Panchkhaal, Jirokilo-Kuntabensi Nagarkot road has been requested.
According to the road department, all the vehicles stopped at the intersection (Dhulikhel and Panchkhaal) will be released only after the closed period. Earlier, on May 8th/9th, the road department had done the work of upgradation by arranging alternative roads for the vehicles in the same way. Also, on May 10/11, the road was regularly operated and upgraded.
“On May 8th / 9th, when the traffic was stopped, there was a lot of progress in the work. Also, on 10th / 11th, the work was not able to speed up when the regular movement was carried out”, said Information Officer Basnet. He informed that as it was found that there was a lot of progress when the road was closed, the work was accelerated by closing the section for two more days in coordination with the District Coordination Committee and the Chief District Officer.
The Ward Office has requested the users traveling through that road to use an alternative route as the slope work will start from Monday in Cinca Factory Musekholsa under the road section from the mouth of Patnekhola Sanghu located in Bethanchok Rural Municipality-2 of Kavrepalanchok.
Purushottam Timalsina, Ward President of Bethanchok-2, said that according to the plan to blacken five km of roads every year through the Gaurav program of Bethanchok Rural Municipality, the road section that will be operated from the mouth of Patnekhola Sanghu to Gwabhyangyang has been released for the current financial year.
