18 June, Surkhet. Due to extreme heat, schools in Birendranagar will be closed from Sunday.
Pabson, the umbrella organization of private schools, has decided to close the school for a week from Sunday, June 20 due to the extreme heat.
Today, the temperature of Birendranagar has been measured at 40 degree Celsius. Bed Prakash Dhakal, president of Pabson Surkhet, informed that the decision to close the institutional school was made because the heat may affect the health of the children.
Community schools in Birendranagar are also being closed. Birendranagar Municipality Education Branch Head Dhirendra Sharma Lamsal informed that schools in the city are being closed due to excessive heat.
‘We are preparing to close the schools in the city after the heat rises,’ said Lamsal, ‘if the temperature drops due to rain, the schools will not be closed. If the summer continues like this, we will decide to close the school from Sunday.’
