Officials of the National Folk and Dual Song Academy of Nepal presenting a memorandum to the Minister of Home Affairs Ravi Lamichhane at the Ministry.
Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Ravi Lamichhane has expressed his commitment to play a coordinating role in controlling the distortions in the field of folk and double songs.
On Thursday, while understanding the memorandum of the National Folk and Dual Song Institute of Nepal, he pointed out that the song/music sector is also affected by the attitude that whatever is done, cooperation between all stakeholders including the government is necessary to revive the original aspect.
Minister Lamichhane said – ‘It is necessary to differentiate between glamor and vulgarity. As the society forgets that discipline is necessary even in freedom, distortions have increased. The tendency of the creator to interpret the art in his own way and when others interpret it differently from his, the tendency to interpret the art as incomprehensible has also caused a problem.’
Home Minister Lamichhane said that it is necessary to create standards and standards for art to solve the problem.
Minister Lamichhane emphasized that the difference between control and regulation should also be understood, saying that when going to standards, attention should also be paid to the discussion of trying to curb freedom of expression. He expressed his commitment to discuss with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Communications and Information Technology to control the distortions in the field of folk and double songs.
The president of the foundation, Rita Thapa Magar, Badri Pangeni, Pashupati Sharma and other artists, who came to submit the memorandum, said that recently folk and double songs have become very indecent, rude and disturbing social tolerance.
He drew the attention of the Home Minister to help in control, saying that the originality has started to be destroyed in the name of Dohori Battle, Nepali original songs are no longer given priority in Dohori evenings, and the influence of disorderly and unlimited songs/music has started to increase even in fairs and festivals.
