Kathmandu. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that he will establish a climber welfare fund for the safety of mountaineers. He said this while addressing a program organized on the occasion of the 71st Everest Day in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
He said that the welfare fund for climbers is important in matters related to the future security of the climbers and especially the livelihood of the Sherpa tribe.
He said that initiatives will be taken to make the climbing sector more comfortable and VAT exemption arrangements will be initiated by the Government of Nepal to increase the professionalism of the climbing sector.
He said that there is a need for cooperation and coordination to keep the mountains free from pollution by facing the challenges of mitigating the effects of climate change and managing the pollution in the mountains.
He said, what I can assure you is that there will be an initiative to create Arohi Welfare Fund by talking to the Ministry of Finance. Attention has been drawn to the provision of VAT exemption to make this sector more convenient. I will take initiative in that too. I will initiate the work that can be done on behalf of the Nepalese government to increase the professionalism of this sector.’
Prime Minister Dahal said that Nepal has been established as the leader of the mountain country. He mentioned that the world’s attention has been well drawn towards Nepal on the issue of Himalayas.
He said that other snow chains including the highest peaks are under the influence of climate change and it is necessary to unite in protecting the mountains.
