Kathmandu. Officials of Nepal Cricket Association 9CAN0 along with their families have left for America to watch ICC World Cup cricket. CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand and Treasurer Padam Khadka left for America with their wives on Tuesday.
President Chand is also included in the quota of 25 players and officials provided by the ICC. ICC arranges the expenses and allowances of 25 people for the World Cup team. So they travel in business class.
ICC provided a quota of 15 players, coaches and officials to CAN. Diwakar Ghale, a member of CAN, is the team leader.
Similarly, another central member Pradeep Mazgaia has gone with the team in the role of manager. Chairman Chand is also the Baitadi Chairman of Nepali Congress.
Other central members along with the secretary are also preparing to leave for America in a few days. It is understood that other people from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council are also preparing to go to the World Cup. However, Sandeep Lamichhane, who played an important role in bringing the Nepali cricket team to the World Cup, is in confusion as he did not get a visa.
Can has been criticized on social media after the official went to America with his wife when Sandeep was in doubt about playing in the World Cup. Earlier, it was informed that Sandeep’s visa was canceled after he was cleared by the Patan High Court that his visa was valid until 2025. After that, when the new process was started, the US Embassy rejected his visa.
Meanwhile, officials of CAN have told the media that they have started a new process, but it has not been successful. As a result, Sandeep’s chances of playing in the World Cup are almost over.
When he went to talk to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha about the visa issue, the minister said in a roundabout way that he could not. Lately, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has replied that the efforts for visas are continuing.
