Kathmandu. Nepal defeated Houston Hurricanes by 27 runs in the second and last practice match. Along with this, Nepal has made a clean sweep of the two-match series.
Chasing a target of 124 runs, Houston Hurricanes were all out for 96 runs in 18.3 overs. Zia Shahzad scored 35 runs off 29 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes. Imran Khan Jr. and Lahiru Milantha were out for 16/16 runs. None of the other batters could perform well.
Nepal’s Karan KC took 3 wickets by spending 10 runs in 3 overs. Sompal Kami took 2 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. Rohit Paudel, Abhinash Bohra and Sagar Dhakal took one wicket each.
Before that, Nepal won the toss at Prairie View Complex Houston and chose to bat first. Captain Rohit Paudel scored 37 runs off 40 balls with 1 boundary. Opener Kushal Bhurtel scored 23 runs off 31 balls with 2 fours. None of Nepal’s batsmen could perform well at the crease.
Opener Asif Sheikh was caught for one run by Ali Sheikh at cover on the fast bowler Imran Sheikh. Anil Shah was edged for 4 runs on the ball of draw draw and was caught out by wicketkeeper Lahiru Milantha.
Kushal Bhurtel was cut and bowled by Zia Shahzad. Kushal Malla was caught by Ali at long-off for 6 runs. Then Gulshan Jha was dismissed for 14 runs. Rohit was bowled by Usman Shinwari’s yorker ball. Sandeep Zora and Sompal Kami scored 12 runs each.
Houston’s Imran Sheikh Jr. took 2 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs. Zia Shahzad took 2 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs. Corey Dry and Usman Shinwari took one wicket each.
In the first match, Nepal won by 6 runs. Nepal will go to Dallas. Nepal will play ICC T20 World Cup warm-up matches against Canada on May 27 and USA on May 30. Then the World Cup will start. Nepal will start the World Cup on June 4 against Netherlands in Dallas.
