Debate: Where is the Congress today?

‘For us, power after the establishment of democracy is not inevitable’, BP Koirala always said, ‘but it means that those who come to power must be governed systematically and the representatives elected by the people must reach there.’

‘Government of the people by the people for the people’ is democracy where the representatives elected by the people as representatives of the people represent the people. This is part of the principle of separation of powers. This is one of the best practices of democratic governance. Where citizens surrender their democratic rights to their representatives to protect ‘sovereign’ rights. This bridge of trust is another strong definition of democracy.

Where are those ‘faith’ that the people have left on the Nepali Congress, which has left footprints that will never be erased in Nepali political history? And where is the Nepali Congress today in terms of that ‘belief’ of the people?

As BP said, if we put aside the ‘inevitability of power’, especially at this time, the Nepali Congress should have been with the people. The only chapter of democracy and democratic trust is the Nepali Congress, which never knows and has never compromised against democracy and its values and principles. This is the trust of the people. People have faith in Congress. It is the main responsibility of the Nepali Congress to maintain it. It is also the lifeblood of the political life of the Congress, the trust of the people.

In a specific situation, the Nepali Congress formed an electoral alliance. Congress became the largest party after the election, but the question of what is the place of Congress is still bothering the politics of Congress.

There are many definitions and practices of democracy such as participatory, liberal, parliamentary, pluralist, constitutional and socialist. This system of governance adopted in every state system is called democracy. These and any other forms of governance practices are democratic in nature. In this, the method of democratic governance system adopted by us is ‘representative’.

Where people elect MPs and hand over the keys of governance to them. This means that they are not the ones who take over the governance, they are only the representatives of the said people. The people are the only sayers of democracy. Apart from that, the supremacy of democracy cannot be any other.

In a specific situation, the Nepali Congress formed an electoral alliance. Although the Nepali Congress became the party with the largest number of MPs in the parliament from that election, the question of what is the place of the Congress is still causing the politics of the Congress.

The special election is not a festival of worker mobilization for the Nepali Congress. Nepali Congress itself is a form of ‘mass party’. Most of the voters are those who recognize only ‘Rukh’ in the ballot paper and not the Nepali Congress. Nepali Congress is the ‘tree’ for them.

That group of voters who believe in ‘Rukh’ about the candidates of the alliance is not very interested and doesn’t even recognize them. Even in such a situation, in the name of alliance, we made them vote on the symbols of other parties. The legacy of the ‘tree’ forcibly taken away from the electorate will haunt us forever.

Why Nepali Congress is not like Congress today? Why is the Nepali Congress, which can never be separated from the pages of Nepali politics, not in the hearts of the common people who created that history? There is only one answer to such questions that keep hitting the beleaguered Nepali Congress – the inevitability of power.

BP had said that the path in which the Congress will get confused – ‘There is no need for inevitability of power after democracy.’

While practicing basic democracy, the Nepali people and the political parties here had to encounter many modes of politics where there were attempts to drag and destroy democracy. However, the Nepali Congress has been playing a decisive role in uplifting the nation and the people from those modes. However, the Nepali Congress gradually disappeared from those roles in history. This is also a beautiful truth that the Congress and its leadership must embrace.

Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala says, ‘After abandoning ideas and principles in politics, deviations begin to occur in organizations, leaders and activists, today we are facing such a scenario in the entire Nepali Congress and the general workers of the Congress. Abandoning ideas and principles for power, we have embarked on practical politics, which has led us to confusion.’

This is the ground reality of Nepali Congress now. Otherwise, we would not have had to search for the Nepali Congress with the slogan ‘Congress in the Community’.

The real thing about Nepali Congress is that when there is a community and there is a Nepali Congress. When the Nepali Congress is alive and awake, the life of the community or let’s say the people is filled with life. That life, which is the political life of Nepali Congress. We and our leadership are running far away from this truth. We are experiencing the result today.

During the fourteenth convention of Nepali Congress, we had a lot of discussion about the party life of Nepali Congress. What kind of Congress? Which way to walk the Congress? What kind of leadership to choose? Amidst all these debates, everyone’s conclusion remained the same – New Congress. New leadership. New character. But what do we want? What did we choose? And what did we choose?

Character and eligibility are only means, not means. Sadhya is a ‘Young Congress’ as we call it, where the living tissue of democracy beats at the heart of socialism. We got a little lost from this root.

What did our party leadership do according to the expectation and expectation of millions of Congressmen who chose their leadership? This is not a question of an individual or a group. From the party chairman who directs the policy to the party leadership, to the general ministers who have to keep the organization alive at all times, all the officials and members in the leadership should be equally affected by this question. should be found The Nepali Congress should be moved on the path chosen by the common workers and the people by churning, churning and churning. It’s too late to walk the steps. So, now is the time to jump.

The political situation is not always the same. It is not necessary that policies and strategies should always remain the same. Strategies in politics should be changed based on need. Leadership must change. His behavior must be changed. Circumstances made it so.

A meeting of the Nepali Congress General Committee held a few months ago decided to sign a similar decision in the changed situation – not to form an alliance before the elections.

It was such a decision, which brought ‘upheaval’ in the country’s politics. As the political situation developed and developed since the power equalization, one of the milestones was the signatures engraved by the Nepali Congress on the General Committee. The Nepali Congress leadership and all the workers should not hesitate to take credit for this.

Rather proudly says – we can ‘fight alone’. We have the courage to fight alone. We are in front.’ It is also a communication of a new energy for ordinary workers and voters. Which also circulates new blood in the party life of Nepali Congress.

In the current political situation, this was a turning point from which the Nepali Congress came to the oppositional path of power politics. It was a clear and bright path for the Nepali Congress, which was confused in the same ground for the power game, from where the Nepali Congress will now start gathering the courage to ‘fight alone’.

A beautiful ‘questionnaire’ of democratic practice is opposition. Today we are on such a large scale of questions, from which we have to make leaps of solutions. These are the questions that the common people ask the rulers. These are the questions that ordinary workers ask the leadership of the Nepali Congress. Where Nepali Congress leadership should stand as a strong bridge. A bridge that can carry all these loads. Its pillar is the leadership of the Nepali Congress. is the chairman. are the chief ministers. And all the members of the leadership circle.

There is a belief in parliamentary democracy that power and government belong to the ruling party, while Parliament or House belongs to the opposition. Where the questions of the opposition become the voice of the people and collide with the government.

Today Nepali Congress is in the same place where it should have been. Nepali Congress is standing as a strong pillar of the people in Parliament today. In this way, the main responsibility of the opposition is to constantly warn the government and not allow the government to proceed on the ‘arbitrary’ path. Nepali Congress will not shirk this responsibility under any circumstances. Leadership should not be bowed down.

There is no need for anyone to teach the Nepali Congress parliamentary values, norms and regulations. In the history of parliamentary politics, the steps of Nepali Congress have always been leading. However, the Nepali Congress should now replace the people who have been divided within their own party and are getting confused in the practice of ‘side-and-side’ within the party. The Nepali Congress should now engage in the ‘power struggle’ within itself to guide the government on the right path.

Whether in power or opposition, it is too late to tell the people about the historical moments created by the Nepali Congress. We made history, we made history, but we could not tell it in front of the people. And we were confined to those pages of history, which citizens themselves never turn. For that, we should remind about those historical modes of Nepali Congress, from which new paths of change in the country have been drawn.

And, these are the paths from where the lifeblood of the party life of Nepali Congress is found. That is, it is the way of the people.
