Sindhupalchok. The Infrastructure Development Committee of the House of Representatives has monitored various parts of Arani Lokmarg on Sunday.
On Sunday and Monday, 11 parliamentarians of the Parliamentary Committee conducted on-site monitoring of various sections of the road from Kathmandu to Liping on the border with China. During the monitoring, the condition of the road in various places was found to be very critical and dilapidated. The committee will call the relevant parties in a meeting and discuss it and give written instructions to the government.
The members of the committee have monitored the ‘Dhulikhel Khawa’ section of Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok’s Balefi rural municipality, Kothe landslide area in Sindhupalchok, concrete bridge construction work stopped due to compensation dispute in Khadichaur, Jure landslide section, Khag Dal of Bahrbise, Daklang of Bhotekoshi, Das Kilo, Kodari and Liping areas. The members of the committee reached the Nepal-China border and observed the condition of roads, immigration and customs structures.
According to the committee, the monitoring program was decided on the proposal of Madhav Sapkota, a member of the committee and MP of the House of Representatives elected from Sindhupalchok Region No. 1. Shankar Bhandari, the coordinator of the monitoring program, said that the program was decided on Sapkota’s proposal after the issue of the difficulties of public roads was repeatedly raised in the parliament and the committee.
The committee has monitored and discussed in the presence of the relevant local people’s representatives of Sindhupalchok and Kavrepalanchok districts, heads and representatives of road department, administration office, heads and representatives of security agencies.
After the road inspection, in the evening at the Tatopani Customs Office, committee member Sapkota reminded that the issue of the poor condition of the national road and its upgrading had been raised in the Parliament and the committee and thanked the members who came to the inspection for prioritizing this issue. MP Sapkota expressed his belief that since 1 billion 230 million has been allocated for the upgrading of Jure Tatopani section this year, the monitoring will help in making proper use of that budget.
Bhandari, the monitoring coordinator, said that Tatopani is an important crossing point of the country and said that he would give written instructions to the related parties after a serious discussion in the committee for the upgrading of the road leading to the border. Bina Lama, a member of the committee, said that the condition of various places of Arani’s public road was very distressing.
Committee members Madhav Sapkota, Thakur Gayre, Shankar Bhandari, Bina Lama, Kalpana Chaudhary, Dayal Bahadur Shahi, Maina Karki, Lalveer Chaudhary, Pratima Gautam and Sushila Shrestha participated in the monitoring. Bagmati Provincial Assembly Member Saral Sahayatri, Road Department Director General Ramhari Pokharel, the construction side of the project, media personnel and others were present in the monitoring.
