Kathmandu. The National Folk and Dual Song Foundation has suspended central member and singer Balchandra Baral from the organization for 6 months.
Chairman Rita Thapa Magar informed that Baral was suspended at the working committee meeting held on Thursday for acting against the essence and spirit of folk culture.
‘His singing performance showed activities that are indigestible in the society. It was seen that he was presented in such a way as to distort the original culture,’ President Thapa said, ‘We asked him for an explanation about this. Even when called, he did not come in contact. Such a decision had to be made after ignoring the explanation.’
The foundation says that Baral is presented in an unlimited manner in the name of live duhori. During the period of 6 months of suspension, Baral will not be allowed to participate in all national and international activities related to the establishment, including the district, state, center.
President Thapa said that other artists who appear armed have also been alerted in this way. The officials of the foundation along with the chairman reached the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday afternoon and submitted a memorandum asking them to stop such activities that are indigestible in Samach.
Chairman Magar says that lawyers are also being consulted for this. Last week, the foundation had warned not to present loosely in the name of live repetition through a statement.
